The beauty of collaboration
Video Progetti and video production company Erreciesse celebrate 15 years of working together to deliver exceptional – and mutually beneficial – results.
Art is often seen as a particularly solitary undertaking: visions of the lonely and troubled painter cooped up in their studio, shunning the contact of the outside world. Or the prodigal writer, hunched over their manuscript, reclusive, as they forget to eat yet another meal.
But whilst these are the romantic images of ‘art’ that our minds tend to leap to, in reality so very much of the art world is a collaborative process. Orchestras, opera, the theatre – these all require the coming together of people – working towards the singular goal of creating something beautiful. Something that touches the heart of those who engage with it.
And then, of course, the world of cinema and TV. How many people are involved in the creation of just 30 minutes of TV? Even if you asked someone at the heart of the industry, they might be hard-pressed to count. Not just the actors and production assistants on-set, but upstream and downstream, many dozens – maybe hundreds – more people who have contributed to the art form; creatively, technically, and logistically.
Yes, collaboration is at the core of creation. And it is for this reason that maintaining collaborations with long-running clients is an important concept to Video Progetti.
Video Progetti has been with TV production group Erreciesse since their creation 15 years ago. Right from the beginning. In that time, Erreciesse have themselves engaged in productions on behalf of some of the biggest broadcasters in Italy, including Rai, SkyItalia, Mediaset, Telecom Italia and Wind. This idea of Italian collaboration is incredibly natural – the word ‘collaboration’ does after all stem from the original Latin collaborare.
Erreciesse operate three HD vans and one HD truck, all with multiple camera set-ups and one with a satellite uplink. All can be supported by backup power generators with parallel operation. In addition to this, Erreciesse maintains a fully heated and air-conditioned television studio in Cologno, Malese. The 500 sqm studio is also equipped with production office, dressing room, hair and make-up unity and hospitality area.
Developing and maintaining a fleet of this size, along with creating a fixed production site requires real trust in your integration partners – and this is a trust that Erreciese and Video Progetti have developed together, over the course of 15 years. Video Progetti have been able to adapt their solutions and architecture suggestions as Erreciese’s undertakings have changed and grown. Video Progetti prides themselves not only on their ability to deliver seamless and reliable technological solutions to the production and broadcast markets, but also to understand the underlying business case of the client. This means they ca deliver infrastructure that has the flexibility and future-proof qualities to accommodate a video production company as they evolve as a business, and not just as the technology itself evolves.
Such has been the case with Erreciesse. Video Progetti and Erreciesse have grown together over the course of a decade and a half, progressing in an industry that is marked by rapid and complex change. By underpinning this change with fundamentally human qualities: trust, mutual respect and open communication, they continue to thrive in a highly competitive industry.
It turns out, collaboration isn’t just at the heart of good art, it’s at the heart of good business too.
